About the event

Pianist Marina Fabrikant, on faculty at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, discusses her approach to interpreting genre in music. 

Bio: Marina was born in Riga, Latvia where she studied piano performance and music theory at Latvian State Conservatory. Upon moving to the USA, she received her doctorate in piano perforance from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has participated in solo and collaborative recitals in the US and Europe, played in the Ameropa Festival in Prague, Czech Republic, and continues to research the art of Ferruccio Busoni and his influence on modern day music and pianists. Dr. Fabrikant also connects genres and musical interpretation in which she will discuss at Fort Hays State University in Palmer Hall. When she is not instructing at Union College, she spends her time maintaining a private studio in Lincoln, NE.
